CONTEXT

In an attempt to re-capture moisture evaporated from the terracotta during previous projects—my research evolved into learning how terracotta behaves in different environments.

This project is one of the notable proposals from said research. Aside from this, two other projects are currently a WiP.

this project is one of the notable proposals from the research that explores how Terracotta behaves in various environments. It aims to execute the findings of said experiments—which can be found here.

(a notable outcome of the research was this project)

the strucutre is partly submerged in the earth—allowing for a controlled absorption of moisture from the soil without a continuous.

  & Structure

taking inspiration from the nasal turbinates of camels; in which their design helps reduce the loss of moisture during respiration.

the images below the turbinate diagrams are miniature models created to understand how airflow would take place under the form’s conditions.

 Application

the current plan for manufacturing is either through 3D clay printer or through the assembly of multiple components made from moulds.[model size:~8x3x1inc//real size:~5x2x1ft]

the structure is purposed for public spaces, where it can be placed into the ground and facilitate cooling the space.
